In the “dreams” he created, the brushstrokes and colors swirl like rambling vines that explode and climb in all directions. In nite violence and beauty can be felt in traces of classical paintings marked by a combination of stillness and dynamicity. Sun stands at the intersection of Eastern and Western philosophies, exploring subjects such as disaster and sublimity, eternality and transience, inner world and the nature.
As one of the important mid-generation representatives of Chinese abstract art,Sun Yao has held exhibitions with many prominent institutions at home and abroad including Shanghai Art Museum , China Art Museum, Long Museum, Mingyuan Art Museum, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art, Art Museum of China Academy of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art-St-Urban (Switzerland), etc.
